Last month, the InMotion technical team has largely occupied with the concept design of new battery modules. The new design of the battery modules has three requirements: to provide the required voltage, an integrated cooling at battery cell level, and a modular scalable design. The cooling of the battery cells at cell level is a unique technology that enables InMotion to keep each battery cell at its optimum working temperature. We need this to be able to charge in under 10 minutes and discharge heavily during a race. To test how this works, several cooling concepts have been tested on individual battery cells over the past month. The results are promising, and the next challenge is to scale up the ideal solution to module level.
In the meantime, the implementation of regenerative braking on the car is being worked on. This makes it possible to recover energy during the deceleration of the vehicle and thus to extend the driving range. The biggest challenge here is safety, as it is not desirable for such a system to inadvertently decelerate the car. Starting next month, regenerative braking will be tested at system level in the car.
PARTNERUPDATE
Photoshoot & extension partnership Circuit Zandvoort
In the beginning of March, there was a special photoshoot with our car The Revolution on CM.com Circuit Zandvoort. They extended their contract as Silver Partner, which means that we are able again to test our car on their track. This is important for our project! Therefore, we are really happy with this extension. To kick-off the further collaboration, we made some beautiful pictures on the track.
Webinars Omexom & Heliox
In March we organized two webinars with our partners. The first one was with Omexom on the 15th of March. Martijn gave a tour through our garage and Thomas dove deeper into the technology of the battery pack live from the garage. Nice to see that there was so much enthusiasm and many questions were asked. Thank you Omexom for arranging the webinar.
Later in March, we also organized a webinar with Heliox about fast charging in motorsport. Martijn and Thomas spoke together with Mark and Koen about the challenges and future of electric racing. Again, cool to see how much interest there is. Thanks to Heliox for the organization and the interesting conversation.
In case you missed the webinars, no worries, you can watch them back via the following links: Omexom webinar and Heliox webinar.
Partner event
Friday the 18th of March, our Partner Event took place. It was really nice to see our partners together in one room. We presented the technical progress of the last months and we told the partners the business highlights. Moreover, we presented the ambitious plans we have for the (near) future and took them on board in our plans. Afterward, we had a nice drink together. We would like to thank all the partners that attend the event and Mikrocentrum for hosting the event!
